In a news release Monday evening, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the overseas Filipino worker (OFW), identified by the pseudonym “Bernadette” to protect her privacy, is currently staying in a protected shelter in Hong Kong while authorities conduct medical and legal procedures related to her case.
“Upon learning of the incident, authorities immediately acted to protect her privacy, custody, and well-being. Hong Kong officers responded to the incident on Jan. 15, and the Migrant Workers Office (MWO) Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) team took her to a hospital for a medical examination before transferring her to a shelter,” he Meanwhile, on the legal aspect, Cacdac said that Hong Kong Labor Attaché Cesar Chavez Jr., together with a legal representative, will accompany “Bernadette” to the police station for the formal investigation.
